Kamundagan Festival is an annual celebration of Naga city featuring its traditional cultures
Kamundangan is a month-long activity during the month of December in celebration of the Advent season. Belen contests, trade fairs, regatta, carabao race, Miss Naga City Beauty Pageant and tricycle race are some of the activities featured during the festival.
The Kamundagan Festival is an annual celebration of the city featuring its traditional cultures while showcasing the values that shaped the customs of every Nagueño. This seemingly “throwback” feature endeavors to give the young generation the glimpse of their past so that significant memoirs of it will serve as a reminder of their roots. In the month of December, Naga City opens its door for a whole month in celebrating its charter anniversary and the Birth of Christ with the cooperative efforts of Camarines Sur and Naga City. Naga is known as the “Queen City of Bicol”, and as the “Heart of Bicol”, due to its central location on the Bicol Peninsula; and as the “Pilgrim City” because Naga is also the destination of the largest Marian pilgrimage in Asia, the Our Lady of Peñafrancia, whose image is one of the most popular objects of devotion in the country. Naga is also known as “One of the Seven Golden Cities of the Sun”.
The festivity seeks to boost tourism, expand business and provide livelihood opportunities by showcasing various activities, the highlights of which are the kiri-kiti, pastoras, beauty search, agro-industrial fair, civic parade, cultural shows and other colorful events.
